History of a Christmas Tree

You may not know this but Germany started the tradition of getting a Christmas tree. In the 16th century, Christians brought decorated trees into their houses. They did this every December 24th for the religious feast day Adam and Eve.

Now for some fun facts: 
  • To many people, Christmas trees represent Jesus Christ's birth and resurrection.
  • Some bushes and branches are regarded as a sign of immortality and are thought to represent Christ's crown of thorns on the crucifixion. The evergreen tree was the tree you always use because Christians used evergreen trees as a sign of the everlasting life of god. The traditional tree used for the Christmas tree is called Traditional Norway Spruce.
  • The first decorated Christmas tree was put up in Riga Latvia in the year 1510It takes about 16 years to grow your average Christmas tree.
  • Alabama was the first state to recognize Christmas in the year 1836.
  • Christmas trees have been sold in the US since 1850A well-watered Christmas tree can last around 4 to 5 weeks before drying out\Trees used to be adorned with edible decorations
